Product description
Details buyers use to confirm grade, use and supply.
Urea Plastic Abrasive for Sensitive Substrates
Plastic Abrasive 220 mesh is formulated from crushed, graded urea formaldehyde resin. Its angular particle shape provides effective cutting action on coatings while the relatively soft material hardness protects the underlying surface. This makes it the preferred choice for stripping paint from aircraft skins, removing powder coating from aluminium extrusions, and cleaning moulds without dimensional change.
The 220 mesh grade delivers a fine, consistent finish. It is commonly used in suction-fed and direct-pressure blast cabinets, as well as walk-in blast rooms. Operators achieve high strip rates on single layers of paint or light rust without warping thin-gauge metals or etching glass-reinforced plastic.
Performance and Process Compatibility
This media is suitable for both dry blasting and some low-pressure wet blasting systems. Its low friability means particles resist fracture on impact, allowing multiple reuse cycles before replacement. Dust generation is significantly lower than mineral abrasives, improving visibility and reducing cleanup time in enclosed blasting environments.
Typical process parameters include air pressure between 2 and 4 bar, nozzle distance of 300–500 mm, and an impact angle of 60–90 degrees. These settings maximise coating removal while preserving the substrate. The media is free of crystalline silica and does not contribute to hazardous dust exposure when used with standard engineering controls.
Packaging, Handling, and Availability
SPA2Z supplies Plastic Abrasive 220 mesh in 25 kg bags, 50 kg bags, 1-ton jumbo bags, bulk totes, and drum packs. Packaging is moisture-resistant to maintain product integrity during storage and transit. We recommend storing in a dry, covered area and resealing opened containers to prevent clumping.
Minimum order quantities depend on pack size and destination. We support trial orders for process validation as well as scheduled bulk dispatches for ongoing production. Lead times are confirmed at quotation stage based on stock availability and shipping location.
