Thermoset Plastic Strip Media for Controlled Stripping
Type II plastic media is manufactured from thermoset resin, cured into rigid strips, and precision-ground to a controlled 16 mesh particle size. The angular particle shape delivers consistent cutting action while the low hardness (typically 3.0–4.0 Mohs) prevents substrate damage. Unlike urea-based Type I media, Type II offers improved durability and a longer recycling life, making it cost-effective for multi-cycle blasting operations in pressure, suction, and wheel-blast systems.
This 16 mesh grade balances aggressive coating removal with a surface finish fine enough for most industrial paint adhesion requirements. It is widely specified for stripping aircraft components, removing powder coating from aluminum extrusions, cleaning injection molds without altering tool dimensions, and deflashing thermoset plastic parts. The media is free of free silica and generates minimal dust when used with proper dust collection.

About SPA2Z — Plastic Media Type II 16 Mesh
SPA2Z supplies Plastic Media Type II 16 mesh to surface preparation contractors, aerospace MRO facilities, automotive refurbishers, and industrial blasting operations across India and global markets. We understand that plastic media performance depends on consistent particle size distribution, low fines content, and reliable pack integrity — and we work with established manufacturers to deliver media that performs predictably cycle after cycle.
When you enquire with SPA2Z, you get more than a price. We help you confirm mesh suitability for your blasting equipment (pressure pot, suction cabinet, or wheel machine), estimate media consumption and recycling life, and select the most economical pack configuration for your freight and storage constraints. Whether you need a trial 25 kg bag or a container-load of jumbo bags, we provide a single point of contact for specification, quotation, and logistics.
Applications
Common industrial uses for this abrasive.
Aerospace Paint Stripping
Removes coatings from aircraft skins, control surfaces, and composite structures without affecting anodized layers or clad aluminum. Meets OEM specifications for plastic media blasting of flight components.
Automotive Body & Panel Refinishing
Strips paint, primer, and body filler from aluminum panels, fiberglass body kits, and classic car sheet metal without heat distortion or metal thinning.
Injection Mold & Tool Cleaning
Cleans baked-on polymer residue, release agents, and light carbon from mold cavities, cores, and tooling without changing critical dimensions or surface finish.
Composite & Fiberglass Surface Prep
Prepares fiberglass boat hulls, wind turbine blades, and composite tanks for re-coating by removing gel coat or paint while preserving the underlying laminate.
Thermoset Part Deflashing
Removes flash and burrs from molded thermoset plastic components without rounding edges or damaging the part body.
