About Alloy 718 Spray Wire
Alloy 718 spray wire delivers a coating chemistry based on nickel, chromium, and iron with additions of niobium and molybdenum. The resulting sprayed deposit retains useful mechanical properties and oxidation resistance up to approximately 700 °C (1300 °F). Typical coating applications include dimensional restoration of gas turbine components, repair of worn shafts and seals, and protection of furnace hardware against high-temperature scaling.
The 2.5 mm (0.098 in) diameter is a common size for heavy-duty arc spray equipment. It provides a stable feed rate and consistent melting characteristics when matched with the correct spray parameters. Wire is available on standard spools or in coil packs to suit different production setups.
Coating Purpose and Process Fit
Alloy 718 coatings are specified where the service environment demands a combination of high-temperature strength, corrosion resistance, and good thermal fatigue life. The alloy resists post-weld cracking and can be machined or ground to final dimensions after spraying. Process fit—arc spray or flame spray—is confirmed at the enquiry stage based on your equipment and application requirements.
