Stainless 304 Coating Wire for Arc and Flame Spray
This 1.6 mm wire is manufactured from AISI 304 (UNS S30400) stainless steel, an austenitic chromium-nickel alloy. When sprayed, it produces a dense, oxidation-resistant coating that bonds well to prepared steel substrates. Typical as-sprayed hardness falls in the range of 200–300 HV, and the coating can be sealed or machined to a final finish if required.
The wire is compatible with standard push-pull drive units and straight-arc spray torches. It feeds consistently at common spray parameters, producing a stable arc with low spatter and good deposition efficiency. Buyers use it for general corrosion protection, salvage of worn or mismachined parts, and as a bond coat under other top coats in selected applications.
Pack Options and Handling
SPA2Z offers this wire on 15 kg, 20 kg, and 25 kg plastic or metal spools, as well as coil packs for high-volume production. Spools are wound with precision layer-winding to ensure smooth dereeling and consistent feed during continuous spraying. Coil packs are available for shops running automated or long-duration spray jobs. All packs are protected from moisture and contamination during storage and transit.
Selection and Process Fit
Process fit—arc spray or flame spray—should be confirmed based on your specific gun model, nozzle configuration, and coating specification. Our team can help you verify compatibility and recommend spray parameters for your equipment. When you enquire, please share your spray gun make and model, substrate material, required coating thickness, and any applicable coating standard or job specification.

Applications
Where this coating wire is commonly used.
Corrosion Protection
Sprayed 304 coatings shield steel structures, tanks, and machine parts from atmospheric corrosion and mild chemical exposure.
Dimensional Restoration
Used to salvage worn shafts, bearing seats, and mismachined components by building up material that can be finish-machined.
Bond Coat Layer
Applied as an intermediate bond coat under ceramic or cermet top coats to improve adhesion on steel substrates.
